Department: English, Modern Languages, and English as a Second Language
Full-Time Instructor English HV-FAC-8884
(Position Is a full-time Tenure track Position) Spring 2026
Minimum Qualifications: Master’s Degree in English or an English-related area such as literature, composition, teaching English as a Second Language, with specialization in teaching writing and/or literature; demonstrated ability to communicate clearly, correctly, and effectively; teaching experience with computer-enhanced instruction; teaching experience at the community college level; teaching experience with diverse and under-prepared students.
Preferred: Experience teaching college-level composition and/or literature courses online using the Brightspace (D2L) course management system preferred. This is a full-time position pending Hudson Valley Community College Board of Trustees and County approval.
DUTIES AND/OR RESPONSIBILITIES: The Instructor reports to the Department Chair of English, Foreign Languages, and English as a Second Language and performs the following duties:
• Provide instruction for scheduled English courses.
• Evaluate student performance.
• Participation on departmental, division wide, and college wide committees for the purpose of building community and fulfilling aspirations of professional development is encouraged and supported.
• At the direction of the Department Chairperson, faculty shall perform duties as specified in the Faculty Contract.
The Salary for Fall 2025 academic year position is $52,500.00.
