Qualifications for Employment
 
Education (Minimum Requirements):
 
Associate’s degree in computer field; strong oral communication and interpersonal skills.
 
Employment Experience Preferred:  
 
Computer experience in a college setting is preferred.
 
Nature and Scope of Duties
 
The Technical Assistant, Computer Learning Centers reports to the Interim Dean of the Learning Commons or his/her designee and performs the following duties:
 
Provides technical and academic assistance to students accessing their computer accounts and utilizing the Hudson Valley Community College Academic Computing Environment (ACE), both in-person and remotely.
 
2. Responds to Help Desk phone questions and emails from students accessing the ACE from on-campus, off-campus or taking on-line courses.
 
3. Maintains regular communications with Computer Services to remain apprised of changes in the Academic Computing Environment, including equipment, software, and policies.
 
4. Provides technical support (handling equipment problems and maintenance requests) for Education Specialists and Professional Tutors working in the CLC computer lab.
 
5. Provides assistance for students using adaptive equipment located in the Computer Learning Center (CLC) Lab.
 
6. Maintains lab printers and manages and orders printer supplies in the Computer Learning Center.
 
7. Updates documentation for students, faculty, and staff regarding use of the ACE.
 
8. Assists with orientations for work study students and other CLC student workers assigned to the Computer Learning Centers.
 
9. Maintains the work schedule for work study students and other CLC student workers, and adjusts the schedule as needed for optimal lab coverage.
 
10. Oversees the Computer Learning Center lab in the absence of the Education Specialists, ensuring appropriate use of equipment and adherence to rules and College policies.
 
11.  Assists with supervising work-study students and/or other student workers.
 
12. May include some evening and/or weekend hours.
 
13. Performs other duties as assigned.
 
 
This is a 12-month, Full-Time position with a salary of $45,000.
