Instructor, Electrical Technician

Job Summary:
The Electrical Technician Instructor is responsible for delivering engaging, hands-on instruction to adult learners preparing for careers in electrical technology. This position includes classroom, lab, and one-on-one instruction that aligns with current industry standards, preparing students for employment, certifications, and continuing education. The ideal candidate has real-world experience as an electrical technician and a passion for teaching and empowering adult learners. The Instructor will report to the Associate Coordinator of Instructional Services or his/her designee.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver instructional content in electrical theory, wiring, motors, electrical systems, troubleshooting, and safety, compliance, blue print reading.
Develop and update curriculum, lesson plans, and assessments in alignment with industry standards and adult learning best practices
Provide hands-on lab instruction using tools, equipment, and simulators.
Maintain a safe, organized, and well-equipped learning environment.
Program promotion via community outreach throughout Albany County.
Evaluate student progress through testing, projects, and practical assessments.
Offer academic and career guidance to students, encouraging persistence and achievement.
Maintain accurate student records, including attendance, grades, and performance.
Stay current with industry trends and certifications (e.g., OSHA, NCCER, EC).
Participate in faculty meetings, training sessions, and curriculum development initiatives
Qualifications:
Required:
Minimum 5 years of experience as an Electrical Technician, Commercial Electrician, or related field.
High school diploma or GED.
Relevant certifications (e.g., Journeyman or Master Electrician License, NCCER Certified Instructor, OSHA 10/30).
Strong communication and organizational skills.
Ability to work with a diverse student population.
Preferred:
Associate’s degree or higher in Electrical Technology or related field.
Teaching experience, particularly in adult or vocational education.
Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
Work Environment:
Classroom and hands-on lab instruction.
May involve standing for long periods and working with tools and equipment.
Mobile electrical trailer for community outreach, career exploration, and program promotion
Occasional evening or weekend hours may be required to accommodate adult learners.
The salary for Instructor is $52,000.00
