In order to be considered an applicant for this position you must meet the minimum qualifications as stated in this announcement. HVCC does not support Visas. Applicants must currently hold an unrestricted employment authorization to work in the United States and appointment will be contingent upon completion of a background check.

Minimum Qualifications: Masters Degree in Education, Social Science, Human Services, or related area and seven (7) years of professional work experience applying ADA requirements to achieve accommodations in a post-secondary environment, working with a disabled population involving advocacy functions and familiarity with trends in adaptive equipment and regulatory structures; demonstrated professional history in successful and progressively responsible roles including but not limited to strategic planning, program assessment, and policy development, and communication skills sufficient to interact effectively with faculty and external advocacy and regulatory agencies required.

Nature and Scope of Duties:

The AA Officer/ADA Coordinator reports to the Vice President for Administration of their designee and performs the following duties:

1.    Performs required functions of College ADA Coordinator to include employee and if needed student related issues.
2.    Responsible for assessment of all campus locations and physical plant for accessibility compliance.

3.    Chairs and oversees the Affirmative Action committee.
•    4. Responsible for ensuring all searches meet equal opportunity standards which includes the training and placing of an affirmative action representative on every search, the review of candidates to ensure we are in compliance with all regulations, best practices and law.
5.    Reviews job descriptions and functions for reasonable accommodation
6.    Performs initial investigation of complaints including but not limited to affirmative action, ADA, bullying, discrimination and other legal matters involving disability or opportunity issues.
7.    Responsible for the data collection and reporting of affirmative action to the various shareholders including but not limited to SUNY, NYS and other agencies as required.
8.    Develop and maintains College policies and procedures including the College website to ensure College is in compliance with the most recent local (city/county), state and federal. government initiatives and laws regarding ADA, FMLA, AA, etc.
9.    Trains and sensitizes campus entities in support of the initiatives population, oversees and monitors the annual mandatory training for all employees, including updating the training platform as needed.
10.    Serves as liaison with external agencies.
11.    Represents the College in various local; state and national advocacy organizations.
12.    Assists departments and divisions of the College in accreditation activities.
13.    Produces statistical and narrative reports as necessary.
14.    Performs related duties as assigned.

This is a 12-month, full-time position with a salary range of $90,000-$94,000.  Position is immediate.
