Digital Communications and Marketing Specialist

Qualifications for Employment
Minimum Requirements
Associate’s degree in a relevant major (Communications, Computer Information Systems, Digital Marketing, Marketing, Web design, or similar) plus one (1) year of communications experience in using electronic media in a professional environment (OR) High School Diploma or possession of a High School Equivalency plus three (3) years of experience in using electronic media in a professional environment. Must also possess demonstrable knowledge of the latest Internet technologies including social media channels, Windows operating systems and graphic design software. Must have an understanding of HTML, Web browsers, CSS, PHP, Javascript and overall Web site administration. Must have very good oral and written communication skills with a strong attention to details and be able to work in a team environment as well as independently.
Preferred Requirements
Working knowledge of Adobe products. A relevant bachelor’s degree. Web site experience working in a Content Management System (CMS). Working with administrators, faculty and staff in a secondary or post-secondary environment.
Nature and Scope of Duties:
- The Digital Communications Specialist reports to the Associate Director of Communications and Marketing and performs the following duties:
- Publishes approved content on official pages of the college’s Web site and social media sites on a regular basis.
- Works in partnership with colleagues in the Office of Communications and Marketing to accomplish this task.
- Interacts with members of the college community to create content for social media postings, update webpages and implement site-wide changes related to design and content needs. May initiate these content changes to ensure that official pages are up-to-date.
- Works to improve and enhance internal and external electronic communications, including but not limited to the college’s social media presence, e-mail marketing efforts and electronic communications from the Office of Communications and Marketing to the rest of the campus (faculty, staff and students).
- Also works to recommend and implement ways to improve interactivity of the college’s Web site.
Works with third party vendors, such as the college’s marketing agency, to create and implement digital marketing strategies. - Ensure Web site SEO and accessibility with a Web-focused writing style, use of keywords, meta tags and W3C standards.
- Maintains up-to-date knowledge and skill with current technologies in the social media and Web publishing industry.
- Maintains electronic campus event calendar.
- Develop and program messages promoting college programs and events on digital displays.
Other related duties as assigned.
This is a 12-month, Full-Time position with a salary range of $46,000-$48,000.
