Grants and Contracts Analyst  (full-time, grant funded)

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university required, with 2 years of relevant experience. Demonstration of prior experience in working with grants and contracts, and experience in higher education, is preferred. The successful candidate must be proficient in general accounting and budgeting theory and practices; able to make independent judgments and to act on decisions on a daily basis; able to work with flexibility on several tasks simultaneously and to meet various concurrent deadlines; have strong mathematical and Excel skills with attention to detail. Experience with database functionality is preferred. The candidate also must display excellence in customer service, as a true team player, and work with minimal direct supervision.

Duties and/or Responsibilities: The Grants & Contracts Analyst reports to the Director of Grants & Contracts Administration and/or their designee and performs the following duties:

1.    Supports HVCC leadership team, faculty and staff, as needed, in the planning and development of applications to federal, state and local government grant programs;

2.    Ensures that post-award responsibilities are completed; utilizes database to coordinate award set-up across Finance departments;

3.    Supports the grant Principal Investigator in all post-award processes, and provides orientation to principal investigators and designated project personnel;

4.    Provides guidance to colleagues in support of grant and contract compliance, including internal protocols, sponsoring organization guidelines, reporting protocols, and instructions contained within grant documents, conflicts of interest, etc.;

5.    Manages ongoing internal and external communication and relationships related to current grants and contracts—in collaboration with colleagues across departments—such as the review and submission of regular audits, reports, and projections, this may include NYS Department of Budget and capital construction projects;

6.    Conducts complex award management activities, including monitoring of restricted accounts to ensure the timely spending of grant funds;

7.    Generates sponsored project invoices and prepares appropriate documentation for reimbursement by sponsors, including capital construction activities and NYS Department of Budget pre- and post-award requirements; 

8.    Drafts quarterly and final federal financial reports in accordance with grant requirements; performs federal cash drawdown;

9.    Coordinates grant closeout process with departments and finance staff to ensure timely spending and report submission;

10.    Collaborates on new financial and/or operational tool evaluation and implementation;

11.    Performs related duties as assigned.
 

This is a Full-Time grant funded position with a salary range of $49,000-$52,000.
