In order to be considered an applicant for this position you must meet the minimum qualifications as stated in this announcement. HVCC does not support Visas. Applicants must currently hold an unrestricted employment authorization to work in the United States and appointment will be contingent upon completion of a background check.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in accounting or a related field from an accredited college or university and two (2) years of relevant experience, or an Associate’s Degree from an accredited college or university with at least four (4) years of relevant experience. Must have strong oral and written communication skills, technical and analytical ability, and experience with financial reconciliations in a computerized accounting system. Requires attention to detail, the ability to manage multiple priorities, and proficiency with Microsoft Office. Experience in financial aid administration and familiarity with the Banner system are preferred.

 
Nature and Scope of Duties: The Assistant Director of Student Financial Aid reports to the Associate Director of Student Financial Aid or their designee and is responsible for the following duties: 

1.    Ensures timely and compliant reconciliation of all Title IV funds.
2.    Assists with certification and is responsible for the reconciliation of all New York State grant and scholarship programs.
3.    Oversees certification, return, and reconciliation processes for private education loans.
4.    Collaborates with the Foundation to ensure timely awarding and reconciliation of scholarship funds.
5.    Supports the Associate Director with the administration and monthly reconciliation of the Federal Work-Study program.
6.    Maintains documentation and reports required for annual federal, state, and institutional reporting; compiles and reviews audit samples to ensure accuracy and completeness for submission to the Director of Student Financial Aid.
7.    Assists with monthly and year-end account analysis for Financial Aid Office.
8.    Advises students and parents on all aspects of financial aid, including application and verification procedures, eligibility determination, professional judgment requests, and appeals.
9.    Maintains up-to-date knowledge of financial aid regulations to ensure departmental compliance; monitors regulatory changes and participates in off-campus training as needed; serves as a resource on financial aid policies and procedures.
10.    Provides financial aid support to students, families, and campus partners; conducts workshops and presentations; assists in resolving student concerns.
11.    Serves as backup for phones, front counter, and computer lab assistance as needed.
12.    Completes special projects and related assignments as directed.
13.    Performs other duties as assigned.

This is a 12-month, Full-Time position with a salary range of $50,000-$52,000.
