In order to be considered an applicant for this position you must meet the minimum qualifications as stated in this announcement. HVCC does not support Visas. Applicants must currently hold an unrestricted employment authorization to work in the United States and appointment will be contingent upon completion of a background check.

Minimum Qualifications:  Master’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, Educational Administration or related area from an accredited college or university, and more than 5 years of working in a post-secondary campus student support services office; excellent interpersonal skills. Experience supervising staff, developing and managing programs and grants. 

The Associate Dean of Student Development reports to the Dean of Student Development and/or their designee and performs the following duties:
 
1.    Provides administrative oversight and supervises the directors in the administration of services and support of the Student Success Center, Advancing Success in Associate (ASAP) Program, and the Center for Access and Assistive Technology (CAAT).  

2.    Supervises staff in assigned areas including but not limited to scheduling work hours, conducting performance appraisals and fostering opportunities for collaboration and professional development.

3.    Represents the College in various local, state and national advocacy organizations, and serves on campus committees as needed. 

4.    Provides leadership and coordination of functional areas to ensure compliance with Federal and State laws and regulations governing the Americans with Disabilities Act, grant requirements, as well as the policies and procedures of the HVCC Board of Trustees, SUNY Administration and the New York State Department of Education. 

5.    Oversees and assists with identifying on and off-campus resources for students experiencing basic needs insecurity and connects students to resources both on and off campus for non-academic support. 

6.    Remains current on best practices and national trends in student development, student success and students with disabilities to guide in the development and maintenance of services and programming for students that encourage persistence, retention and completion. 

7.    Collaborates with other Deans, academic department heads, and other student support offices to assist with student referrals, including but not limited to regularly scheduled meetings on progress.

8.    Recommends, develops and implements with the Dean of Student Development programs, training and initiatives to improve student success including but not limited to student support campus wide programming, to foster student persistence; development of academic success plans focused on meeting the demands of their course work and personal responsibilities; and providing services that offer guidance and mentoring to nontraditional, under-represented and under-served student cohorts.

9.    Reports on program services and assessment data for all assigned areas including but not limited to the ASAP program, service usage, trends in student development and processes, statistical and narrative reports as well as unit assessment plans.

10.    Assists the Dean of Student Development with programmatic publications and public relations materials, accreditation activities and supervises and supports the program budgets through innovative funding sources

11.    Performs other related duties as assigned.

This is a 12-month, Full-Time position with a salary of $85,000.00. Position to begin immediately.
