In order to be considered an applicant for this position you must meet the minimum qualifications as stated in this announcement. HVCC does not support Visas. Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university and at least five (5) years of financial aid experience, including a minimum of two (2) years in a supervisory role. Must have in-depth knowledge of federal and state financial aid regulations and experience managing financial aid software systems. Strong oral and written communication skills, as well as advanced technical and analytical abilities, are required. Preference will be given to candidates with three (3) or more years of progressively responsible experience using Ellucian Banner. 

Master’s degree from an accredited college or university preferred.

Nature and Scope of Duties: The Associate Director of Student Financial Aid reports to the Director of Student Financial Aid or their designee and is responsible for the following duties:  
1.    Overseeing the supervision of office staff and responsibilities include scheduling, conducting annual evaluations, processing time-off requests, and supporting day-to-day operations.
2.    Advises students and parents on all aspects of financial aid, including application and verification processes, eligibility determination, packaging, professional judgment, and appeals.
3.    Reviews student Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) and serves as the primary Student Financial Aid representative on the SAP Appeal Committee.
4.    Assists the Director of Student Financial Aid in developing annual student expense budgets, aid packaging philosophies, and office policies and procedures.
5.    Collaborate with the Director on the implementation, coordination, and maintenance of electronic processing systems. Supports the development of internal reports and process improvements to enhance efficiency.
6.    Works closely with the Director of Student Financial Aid and Enterprise Operations to design and implement effective financial aid processes and reporting structures. Submits and tracks system-related support tickets as needed.
7.    Assists in monitoring, maintaining, and ensuring data accuracy and report integrity across platforms such as Argos and Appworx, particularly for financial aid. 
8.    Provides oversight of system processing and reporting functions within the Ellucian Banner Financial Aid Module. Responsibilities include ensuring data integrity, resolving processing errors, managing data imports/exports, year-end and new-year setup, staff training, federal/state reporting, and the creation of ad hoc reports and assessments.
9.    Supports the administration, oversight, and compliance review of all Title IV and New York State financial aid programs.
10.    Ensures timely and accurate reconciliation of all Title IV funds in compliance with Department of Education regulations.
11.    Maintains expert-level knowledge of financial aid policies and regulations; monitors changes in federal and state requirements; participates in off-campus training; and conducts internal training to keep staff informed and compliant.
12.    Assists the Director in providing staff training and in developing, documenting, and monitoring internal policies and procedures to ensure alignment with federal, state, and institutional regulations.
13.    Prepares procedures and reports required for annual federal, state, and institutional reporting. Reviews and compiles audit samples to ensure accuracy and completeness for submission to the Director.
14.    Delivers financial aid services and support to students, families, and campus partners; conducts presentations and workshops; manages office communications including email and mailings; and helps resolve student concerns.
15.    Assists with certification and reconciliation of all New York State grants and scholarships.
16.    Supports the Director in the allocation of funds and provides statistical analysis related to financial aid programs and applicants.
17.    Completes special projects and related assignments as requested.
18.    Participates in cross-training across student services areas to ensure a high level of customer service and operational flexibility.
19.    Performs other duties as assigned.

This is a 12-month, Full-Time position with a salary range of $60,000-$64,000.
