Applicants must currently hold an unrestricted employment authorization to work in the United States and appointment will be contingent upon completion of a background check.
 
Please note that this position requires the candidate to be able to lift 25 lbs. and move heavy equipment such as desktop computers and printers throughout the campus using various means such as handcarts, moving carts, and dollies. Candidates are also required to be able to climb an 8 ft ladder to clean and troubleshoot classroom projectors and work on the ground underneath desks to run and manage cable wiring.
 
The successful candidate will need to submit a physical that was performed within the last year or have one done free of charge by HVCC’s Heath Services Office. A back X-Ray will need to be completed at Samaritan Hospital in Troy NY and the cost is covered by the college.

Minimum Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field Or Associate’s Degree in Computer Science or related field and one year experience in Information Technology Or three years of experience in Information Technology.
 
Preferred Requirements: Experience working with administrators, faculty, and staff in a secondary or post-secondary education environment.
 
Nature and Scope of Duties: The Information Technology Specialist reports to the Manager of Client Support Services or his/her designee and performs the following duties:
 
• Provides hardware/software installation support for college technology at on and off campus locations.
 
• Provides training in a non-course structure for deployed college technology.
 
• Provides phone and in-person support for all college business and academic technologies.
 
• Provides diagnosis, preventative maintenance support for all business and academic technology.
 
• Provides support to address the computing needs and requirements of students, faculty and staff.
 
• Assists with on and off campus set-up, operation and technical support of multimedia equipment.
 
• Works collaboratively with the Client Support Services group, the entire IT department and the campus community to provide support for designated microcomputer applications, utilities and operating systems.
 
• Maintains up-to-date knowledge and skill with current information technology and multimedia systems.
 
• Performs all other duties as assigned.
 
 
This is a full-time 37.5-hour work week position with a salary range of $44,000-$46,000.
