Associate Director of Development HV-NTP-9944
The Associate Director of Development for Annual Giving and Alumni Engagement reports to the Director of Development or their designee and is a key member of the College’s Institutional Advancement team responsible for developing relationships that strengthen alumni engagement and generate philanthropic support for the College and its students.
Working closely with the Director of Development and Chief Advancement Officer, College leadership, Foundation Board members, faculty, staff, alumni, volunteers, and community partners, the Associate Director identifies fundraising opportunities, develops donor strategies and programs, supports annual giving initiatives, secures philanthropic support, and provides effective donor stewardship.
The successful candidate will be a highly collaborative, relationship-oriented professional who can connect donor interests with the College’s mission and strategic priorities and effectively engage diverse constituencies.
Qualifications Required:
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in communications, business, marketing, nonprofit management, public administration, higher education, or a related field.
• Three or more years of progressively responsible experience in fundraising, development, advancement, alumni relations, nonprofit management, higher education, relationship management, or a related field.
• Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with donors, alumni, community members, businesses, corporations, foundations, or other external constituents.
• Experience coordinating fundraising activities, donor communications, events, or engagement initiatives.
• Equivalent combinations of education, training, and experience may be considered.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel locally and regionally as required.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Fundraising experience within a higher education or non-profit setting.
• Demonstrated success in managing a portfolio of prospective and current donors through the identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of individual, corporate, and foundation donors, including gifts of $1,000 or more.
• Experience with annual giving, major giving, alumni engagement, campaigns, donor stewardship, or related fundraising programs.
• Experience working with volunteers, alumni, Foundation Board members, community leaders, businesses, corporations, foundations, or community organizations.
• Experience with fundraising databases or CRM systems, preferably Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge NXT or a similar system.
Duties and/or Essential Responsibilities:
Fundraising and Donor Engagement
• Manage a portfolio of prospective and current donors through identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.
• Develop individualized donor strategies based on interests, capacity, giving history, and relationship with the College.
• Conduct donor visits, meetings, calls, correspondence, and other outreach to strengthen relationships and advance philanthropic opportunities.
• Prepare proposals, solicitation materials, briefing documents, gift agreements, reports, and stewardship communications.
• Collaborate with the Director of Development and Chief Advancement Officer and College leadership on donor strategies and solicitation of individual and corporate prospects, including relevant private/corporate grant opportunities.
• Identify opportunities to increase donor participation, retention, giving, and long-term engagement.
Annual Giving, Alumni, and Community Engagement
• Develop and implement annual giving campaigns, fundraising appeals, special campaigns, and other Foundation initiatives.
• Support digital, direct-mail, telephone, peer-to-peer, crowdfunding, and other fundraising strategies.
• Develop appeals supporting scholarships, academic programs, student success, capital projects, emergency student needs, workforce development, and other institutional priorities as directed.
• Build relationships with alumni, businesses, corporations, foundations, community organizations, volunteers, and other partners through a planned calendar of events.
• Develop opportunities to connect alumni, donors, and community partners with College programs, students, faculty, and institutional priorities.
• Facilitate and support fundraising, alumni, donor cultivation, recognition, and community events.
• Monitor campaign and fundraising results and recommend strategies to improve participation, retention, and revenue.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Work Schedule
Regular business hours, with occasional evening and weekend work required for donor meetings, fundraising activities, alumni programs, Foundation events, College events, and other institutional activities.
Travel
Local and regional travel is required for donor and prospect meetings, alumni and community events, corporate and foundation meetings, professional development, and other College or Foundation-related activities.
Salary is commensurate with experience. This is a 12-month, Full-Time position with a salary range of $65,000-$75,000.
