Minimum Qualifications:  Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university and two (2) or more years of paid work experience in an administrative office setting.Proficiency with office software, preferably Microsoft Office products, Word, Excel, and Access. Demonstrated excellent writing, mathematical, and analytical skills and an ability to work independently.  Must be a skilled communicator, both orally and in written form, and possess exceptional interpersonal skills to handle high level internal and public contact.  A high degree of organizational skill and attention to detail required as well as the ability to cope with simultaneous and competing work demands also required.
 
Nature and Scope of Duties:
 
The Technical Assistant reports to the Executive Director of the Educational Opportunity Center (EOC, center) and performs the following duties:
 
• Provides administrative support to the Executive Director.
 
• Assembles and coordinates information and complex data related to various departmental and center matters.
 
• Maintains a system of recordkeeping that provides appropriate references, organization, and tracking conducive to the Office of the Executive Director.
 
• Maintains EOC personnel record systems, both electronic and hard copy, 
 
• Maintains departmental ACCESS data bases and interacts with and utilizes an SCT Banner data base.  
 
• Uses Excel spreadsheets for recording, tracking, and execution of various departmental functions and activities. 
 
• Organizes and maintains general departmental files, both electronic and hard copy.
 
• Monitors and tracks status of program activities.
 
• Responds to oral and written communications, both internal and external, and prepares written communications and materials for distribution, reports, presentations, and other needs as identified.  
 
• Works closely with various offices of Hudson Valley Community College to support departmental and center operations. 
 
• Ensures compliance with State University Of New York (SUNY), Hudson Valley Community College (HVCC), and center policy in the execution of work-related duties.
 
• Assumes responsibility, coordinates, or provides support for assigned activities.
 
• Attends meetings related to center operations and records and distributes minutes of such gatherings.
 
• Schedules and maintains administrative calendar of meetings and other activities of the Executive Director.
 
• Assists other functional areas of the center as directed.
 
• Assists with all EOC and outside events.
 
• Performs duties under the direction of the Executive Director while exercising a high level of independent functioning, judgment, and confidentiality.
 
• Provides supervision of clerical staff as assigned.   
 
• Some evening and weekend work
 
• Provide Reception coverage as needed
 
• Performs all duties in a timely, organized, efficient, and customer service driven manner.
 
• Performs additional duties as assigned.
 
The salary range for this position is $48,000-$53,000.
