Foundation Finance Manager

Position Summary
The Finance Manager is responsible for the full range of financial, accounting, audit, investment, and fund management functions of the Hudson Valley Community College Foundation. This role reports to the Chief Advancement Officer / Executive Director of the Foundation and also supports the Foundation Board of Directors and its Finance Committee, ensuring strong internal controls, compliance, accurate reporting, and stewardship of more than 300 donor-restricted funds.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field from an accredited college or university; minimum of 5 years’ experience in analysis, maintaining financial accounts and records, proficiency with Microsoft Office products, strong interpersonal communication, and strong organizational skills required. Mastery of non-profit accounting regulations and terminology and ability to successfully manage an annual audit.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree from an accredited college or university. Experience with Blackbaud, Raiser’s Edge suite of products including Financial Edge. Experience in a higher education not-for-profit environment. IIn depth understanding of fundraising and how it relates to non-profit fund management/bookkeeping.
Nature and Scope of Duties:
Reports to the Chief Advancement Officer / Executive Director of the Foundation or their designee.
Audit, Compliance, and Governance
• Leads the annual audit process and ensures compliance with federal, state, and institutional reporting requirements.
• Supports Board committees with financial materials, analysis, and governance documentation.
Investment and Fund Management
• Oversee investment manager relationships and monitor endowment performance.
• Manages endowment payouts, fund activity, and compliance with donor agreements and NYPMIFA standards.
Budgeting and Financial Planning
• Partners with the Executive Director and board leadership on annual budgeting, forecasting, and internal controls.
• Tracks financial performance and supports purchasing and departmental planning.
Financial Reporting and Cash Management
• Produces monthly financial statements and board level reporting packages.
• Manages cash flow, liquidity, and fund balance tracking to support operational needs.
Accounting and Bookkeeping
• Handles day to day accounting, gift and revenue processing, payables, receivables, and reconciliations.
• Ensures accurate classification and recording of all financial activity.
• Works in partnership with other Foundation staff, including the Advancement Operations Manager and Director of Operations to ensure all financial, database, and accounting systems are working in tandem with one another.
• Will work to integrate the Blackbaud Financial Edge system into the existing Blackbaud suite of products, including Raiser’s Edge.
Fund Administration and Stewardship
• Establishes and maintains fund records across systems.
• Assists other Foundation staff with the preparation of financial data needed for donor stewardship reports and responds to fund related inquiries.
• Will be trained on the full suite of Blackbaud products including Raiser’s Edge
Scholarship and Awards Administration
• Works closely with the Scholarship Coordinator to determine annual scholarship fund availability, award cycles, and reconciliation with academic and communications teams.
Performs other duties as assigned.
This is a 12-month, Full-Time position with a salary range of $70,000-$75,000.
