Applications are being accepted for a Communications Specialist on the Non-Teaching Professional staff for the Office of Communications and Marketing.

To be considered an applicant for this position you must meet the minimum qualifications as stated in this announcement. HVCC does not support Visas. Applicants must currently hold an unrestricted employment authorization to work in the United States and appointment will be contingent upon completion of a background check.
Qualifications:
Associate's degree in English, Journalism, Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field plus one (1) year of experience in journalism, writing, communications, marketing, public relations, or a related professional environment (OR) High School Diploma or possession of a High School Equivalency plus three (3) years of experience in journalism, writing, communications, marketing, public relations, or a related professional environment.
Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong editing and proofreading abilities, and attention to detail. Must be able to manage multiple projects and deadlines, work collaboratively with colleagues, and function effectively both independently and as part of a team. Familiarity with social media platforms, content creation, and Microsoft Office applications is required.
Preferred Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field.
Nature and Scope of Duties:
The Communications Specialist reports to the Executive Director of Communications and Marketing or designee and performs the following duties:
• Works with colleagues in Communications and Marketing, Creative Services and Video and Multimedia Services to support promotional activities of the college.
• Assists with content development of college publications, including writing and editing stories.
• Drafts and edits news releases, speeches, talking points, video scripts, web pages, advertisements and other collateral materials.
• Develops copy and edits internal and external newsletters, publications and marketing materials.
• Drafts media pitches and supports media-related events and activities.
• Contributes to social media and web content management, strategy and execution.
• Assists with academic, administrative and student services communication and marketing efforts.
• Executes research to support college communications and marketing endeavors.
• Assists with office management, meetings, procurement, and provides assistance to other departments and college partners.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
Salary is commensurate with experience. This is a 12-month, Full-Time position with a salary range of $44,000-$46,000
